Two Berwicks, two kinds of install

Berwick is really two areas with very different housing, and which one you are in changes the job considerably.

Around the village and the older streets north of the highway, homes date back decades — established gardens, mature trees, and switchboards that often predate anything solar. Shading assessment matters more here than almost anywhere else in Casey, because those trees have had thirty years to grow.

Berwick Waters, Berwick Springs and the newer estates south of the highway are the opposite. Modern switchboards, Colorbond roofs, minimal shading, and blocks laid out with good truck access. Those installs are usually the most straightforward we do.

Why shading matters more in old Berwick

A single mature tree overshadowing part of the array can pull output down across a whole string on a standard system. Where shading cannot be avoided, panel selection and inverter type change — that is worked out at the site assessment, not after installation.

What we check on a Berwick install

  • Tree shading through the day, particularly in the older village streets
  • Switchboard age on homes north of the highway
  • Roof orientation and pitch — Colorbond in the newer estates, tile in the older areas
  • Two-storey access, which is common through Berwick Waters
  • Grid connection limits with your distributor before we quote

Cost of solar in Berwick

Installed cost depends on system size, roof type, switchboard condition and inverter choice. Newer estate homes through Berwick Waters and Berwick Springs are usually at the lower end — modern boards, tin roofs, easy access. Older village properties can sit higher where a switchboard upgrade or shade-tolerant equipment is needed.

All of Victoria falls in STC Zone 4, so the federal rebate is the same across Berwick and everywhere else in the state. It comes off your quoted price rather than being claimed back afterwards.

How the install works

Consultation and site assessment, then a fixed quote with your rebate applied. We lodge the grid connection paperwork, install with CEC-accredited electricians, and set up your monitoring before we leave. Most Berwick homes are completed in a single day.

Frequently asked questions

Do you install solar in Berwick?

Yes. Berwick, Berwick Waters, Berwick Springs, Narre Warren and Beaconsfield are all part of our regular service area. Site assessments are usually booked within a week.

My Berwick block has a lot of trees — is solar still worth it?

Usually yes, but the design changes. Where shading falls across part of the array through the day, panel choice and inverter type matter more than system size. We map shading during the assessment and design around it rather than quoting a standard system and hoping.

What size system suits a Berwick Waters home?

Most newer estate homes here go with 6.6 kW or 10 kW. Larger two-storey properties with pool or ducted air conditioning load often justify 10 kW or more. We size from your bills, not roof space.

Will an older Berwick home need a switchboard upgrade?

Homes north of the highway built before around 1980 often do. We check the board at the site assessment and include any upgrade in the fixed quote rather than raising it later as a variation.

Can I add a battery later?

Yes. If storage is anywhere in your plans, tell us at quote stage — fitting a hybrid inverter upfront is far cheaper than replacing a string inverter when the battery goes in.
